The Rev. Fr. Michael Monos has served as Proistamenos (Pastor) of St. Luke the Evangelist Greek Orthodox Church since 2009. [The parish of St. Luke is part of the Metropolis of Chicago. The presiding Hierarch is His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos.]

Fr. Michael was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in the Orthodox faith. He attended St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Northridge, California during his formative years.

Fr. Michael holds a B.A. summa cum laude in Religious Studies from California State University Northridge, a M.Phil in Theological Studies with distinction from Drew University, and a M.T.S. with high distinction from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.

Fr. Michael was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on March 15, 1998 by His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon of America (former) at Greenlawn, New York in the Church of St. Paraskevi. On the Feast of St. Nektarios the Wonderworker, November 9, 1998, Fr. Michael was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon of American (former) in Clifton, New Jersey, at the parish of St. George. He was elevated to the rank of Pnevmatikos by His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos in 2001, and to the rank of Economos by His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos on March 10, 2013.

In 2007, Fr. Michael established a Orthodox Christian publishing house called Newrome Press, which publishes books in the area of liturgics, spirituality, theology, history, and exegesis. Among its most significant collaborations are its English translations of the works of Hieromonk Gregorios, Elder of the Cell of St. John the Theologian, Koutloumousiou Monastery, Mt. Athos, Greece. Most recently Newrome Press has published Rock and Sand by Archpriest Josiah Trenham, and the Divine and Sacred Gospel for the Holy Altar –  the first English language translation (Easter / Greek Orthodox Bible) of the Patriarchal text, which is the normative Greek Orthodox liturgical text of Holy Scripture.

Fr. Michael is married to Presvytera Jeannie and has one son, Matthew.
